Abstract

The GARNet metabolite profiling service is part of the Genomics of Arabidopsis Resource Network. It provides a quantitative chemical analysis service, tailored to Arabidopsis metabolites, to the plant science community. Using NMR, GC-MS and HPLC- PDA-MS technology the service develops and applies methods for accurate analysis of different classes of metabolites as requested by the community. The project also involves research into methods for application to higher throughput metabolomic fingerprinting. The service is comprehensive, and provides growth, in controlled environment, of experimental plants as well as a range of coupled-MS analyses of specific compound classes that includes carotenoids, most plant hormones, carbohydrates, amino acids, sterols, lipids and phenylpropanoids.
