Abstract

GARNet is currently providing transcriptomics and various associated bioinformatics services for the Arabidopsis community via NASC. Array data from this service has been disseminated to the wider user community through an open website with no restrictions. The GARNet service has also provided all of the informatics infrastructure for maintenance and development of our European seed and DNA stock data and distribution catalogue through NASC. In addition the programme has allowed us to adopt all relevant standards and to co-operate with all appropriate bodies in transcriptomics and proteomics in order to build a better service. We are asking for support to continue our bioinformatics service over a period during which we plan to take our transcriptomics facility onto a complete cost-recovery basis.
