Abstract

We will establish a Pulse Crop Genetic Improvement Network (PCGIN) as a research base to serve the process of legume crop improvement in the UK. PCGIN will provide resources, expertise and understanding to serve public and commercial sectors in breeding, analysis, and in the definition and improvement of product quality relating to both commercial and public goods. The PCGIN will combine input from breeders, producers and end users with the research base to achieve added value for pulse crops. PCGIN will facilitate the translation of genomic tools to crop improvement, consistent with the needs of UK industry, and the DEFRA objectives relating to sustainable agriculture.
