Abstract

The research will focus on investigating the viral gene functions and molecular pathogenic mechanisms of Infectious bursal disease virus (IBDV) infection in chickens. The project will include establishment of IBD models with IBDV strains of varying virulence in the different inbred chicken lines, development of quantitative PCR tools to measure viral replication in infected cells and laser dissection microscopic methods for analysing the cells from the infected bursal follicles. Molecular mechanisms of viral pathogenesis will be analysed by examining the dynamic changes in the global gene expression and proteome changes in avian B cells infected with IBDV.
