Abstract
The overall objective is to build and test a small low-cost bench-top MRI scanner suitable for limb (and eventually, head) imaging and for widespread use for research in the biological, material and process engineering sciences. The imager will operate at a low proton frequency of ca 2.3MHz so, if successful, the pros and cons of low versus high field MRI will need to be researched. Technical details of the scanner remain to be patented.
