Abstract

The project objectives are to determine whether host PrP glycosylation influences the spread of infectivity from the periphery to the CNS and whether this is TSE strain dependent, to determine whether PrP glycosylation is important in the maintenance of TSE strain characteristics, to establish whether glycosylation processes are affected by TSE infection and to investigate the formation of plaques in PrP glycosylation-restricted mice.
