Abstract
We will investigate the mechanism of amyloidosis of beta 2-microglobulin at the molecular level and attempt to find inhibitors of the process, designed rationally, or by screening a library of compounds supplied by British Biotech Pharmaceuticals Ltd. We will determine the folding pathway of beta 2-microglobulin using a range of biophysical methods and will investigate the role of any partially folded states in the process of fibrillogenesis.
