Abstract

It is proposed to demonstrate and explore the beneficial effect of gas sparging on protein fractionation with ultrafiltration. Preliminary experiment on ultrafiltration of protein mixtures has shown that gas sparging can improve protein fractionation and increase the permeate (low protein solution) flux. It is intended to develop this enhancing technique to aid protein fractionation with a view to applying it to blood protein fractionation and protein mixture separation with membranes in general biological/pharmaceutical processes.
