Abstract
1. To characterise the chemical and biological mechanisms used by fungi for the solubilisation and mobilisation of toxic metals (including radionuclides) from contaminated soils, sediments and other solid wastes. 2. To develop laboratory-scale bioreactor systems for metal recovery/separation from these solid matrices, and demonstrate industrial feasibility.
