Abstract

We propose to use surface enhanced laser desorption ionisation-ProteinChip (Registered) (SELDI-PC) technology to identify serum biomarkers for cattle tuberculosis. We will establish optimal procedures to analyse cattle sera, discover biomarkers, identify them at the molecular level and develop highly sensitive and specific tests for the diagnosis of bovine TB. As well as developing new diagnostic tools we will also gain insights into the pathophysiology of this economically important disease.
