Abstract
In mammals, the man circadian clock is located in the suprachiasmatic nuclei (SCN). Recent evidence indicates that receptors for the peptide neurotensin are heavily expressed in the SCN, but the role of this people in circadian rhythm processes remains unknown. We will take a multidisciplinary approach involving behaviour, neurophysiology, in situ hybridisation, and immunohistochemistry to elucidate the role of this peptide in rhythm processes, the source of the neurotensin innervation in the SCN, and the mechanisms and sites of action of this peptide in the SCN clock.
