Abstract
The project will investigate the behavioural and physiological factors controlling cooperative behaviour in non-breeding subordinates of both sexes in wild meerkats, Suricata suricatta. In particular, it will examine the role of prolactin and steroid hormones in determining individual differences in cooperative activities and to the extent to which dominant females manipulate the hormonal status of other group members.
