Abstract

This application is for two pieces of equipment to enable us to make real time observations on cell to cell spread by morbilliviruses. Under BBSRC grant 81/S08496 we are constructing recombinant viruses which express reporter proteins such as green fluorescent protein which allow observations on live tissues. We have carried out preliminary work with measles viruses and due to limitations in animal models, we wish to develop our capability of studying pathogenesis of canine distemper virus in ferrets using GFP producing viruses.
