Abstract

The aims are to assess (a) the extent to which the fusion (F) and G glycoproteins of ARTV induce cross-protective immunity in poultry; (b) the extent and mechanisms by which these proteins change and (c) to follow changes in the relative proportions of subtype A and B ARTV in the national flock. The ARTV genes will be expressed using fowl pox virus recombinants. Cross-protection experiments will be performed using turkey poults. Protein sequence variation will be assessed by gene sequencing and monoclonal antibody analysis.
