Abstract
1) To implement a computational model of patchwise orientational coding in images. 2) To apply the model to the extraction of the symmetry axis of faces, and the location of orientated features. 3) To test the model by parallel computational and psychophysical investigations of the Zirectoratellner, Poggendorf and Fraser illusions of orientation (4) to continue previous work on the psychophysics of object location, and illusions thereof.
