Abstract

Single rooted soybean leaflets consist of a non-growing photosynthetic surface and a single growing sink, the root system. In this simplified source-sink system we will (a) determine the distribution of control of C flux between source and sink using top-down metabolic control analysis and (b) investigate the mechanisms underlying that control by simultaneously measuring on systems of known C flux: phloem biophysics, source and sink metabolism, and flux control coefficients.
