Abstract

We aim to investigate the metabolic consequences of down regulation of fatty acid synthesis on (a) the types of lipid synthesised, and (b) the storage products accumulated by plants. This will utilise anti-sense beta-ketoreductase plants under the control of seed and leaf specific promoters. Attention will be paid to possible pleiotropic effects and the existence of a metabolon.
