Abstract

The primary objectives of this proposal are to utilise a capillary liquid- chromatograph-Q-T of micro mass spectrometry system to: (i) deliver to the life sciences community at Liverpool and beyond, cutting-edge tandem mass spectrometric techniques (including de novo sequencing and analysis of post-translational modifications); (ii) develop novel methods for the identification and characterisation of protein-binding partners from optical biosensor experiments, a major requirement in the post-genome era. The requested equipment will support research in multiple institutions: University of Liverpool (Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Surgery), Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (Vector Biology, Parasitology), Liverpool John Moores University (Research Institute for Sports and Exercise Science), Stirling University (Institute of Aquaculture) and University of Wales, Bangor (Biology).
