Abstract

This proposal for the purchase of a high resolution MALDI mass spectrometer is vital to the Department of Chemistry as it does not have adequate MALDI capabilities - the only current instrument being an early and unreliable Kratos Kompact 4 a low resolution mass spectrometer. The mass spectrometer will be used to characterise synthetic polymers, metalloporphyrin assemblies, inorganic clusters and to support other projects such as polyketide biosynthesis, telomeres and telomerase as well as a number of other chemical biology projects generally.
