Abstract

This application brings together a number of projects, both planned and ongoing, all of which require the capacity to quantify RNA and DNA in order to probe the response of biological systems to pathogen infection or other environmental change. The applications fall into two broad areas: 1) Gene expression measurement and 2) Quantification of polymorphisms within complex pools of DNA. The ABI Prism 7000 is ideally suited to these applications which will open up a new range of applications for polymorphic marker systems in biology.
