Abstract

Arabidopsis has a relatively small very well characterised genome, features which have made it a favourite model organism for plant sciences. Assembly of a physical map of the organism is nearing completion, and systematic sequencing of the genome, and attendant function searches, have recently begun. The JIC plays a major role in the international collaboration carrying this out. The purpose of this proposal is to request funds to increase the efficiency and throughput of the pilot-scale sequencing studies at JIC so that we can increase our contribution to this important project.
