Abstract

This proposal requests funding towards the provision of an automated DNA sequencer. This will be used to (1) sequence chicken microsatellite loci to enable further loci to be added to the chicken genome map; (2) automate the microsatellite genotyping of a large set of chicken offspring for the characterization of quantitative trait loci; (3) sequence transposon flanking regions in an Arabidopsis mapping project; (4) obtain expressed sequence tags in Brachypodium; (5) expedite additional plant and animal genome studies.
