Abstract
We propose to construct a large insert (-1Mb) YAC library of rice genomic DNA and also a PI library of the same DNA. Because of the synteny which exists between rice and wheat and other members of the Gramineae, such libraries will form an important resource for the positional cloning and characterisation of genes for agronomically important traits in cereals, particularly wheat.
