Abstract

Four hundred F2 pigs in a Large White-Meishan experimental cross have been submitted to a growth trial. These pigs will be genotyped for 200 highly polymorphic genetic markers (microsatellites) spaced at 20 centiMorgan intervals throughout the genome. The analysis of these genotyping and growth data will allow us to map quantitative trait loci (QTL) that contributed 10% of the genetic variation in growth rate or subcutaneous fat depths.
