Abstract
Plant growth is regulated by a complex network of signalling pathways. The experiments described in this proposal test the hypothesis that multiple signalling pathways converge to modulate the activity of DELLA protein growth-repressing nuclear transcription factors, and that DELLA proteins are signal integrators that are ultimate regulators of plant growth. These experiments will fundamentally enhance our understanding of how DELLA proteins control the growth of plants, and mark the beginning of an attempt to build a meaningful hierarchy out of the complexity of factors that are known to regulate growth.
