Abstract
R. sphaeroides has 4 copies of the chemotaxis HPK, CheA, 6 CheYs and 2 CheBs, suggesting multiple chemosensory pathways. Whether these work as a single pathway or there is crosstalk is not understood. Biochemical studies on isolated proteins has identified different patterns of phosphotransfer and fluorescent fusions show targeted localisation of the functional proteins. In this study we will use biochemical, physiological, genetic and in vivo localisation studies of the wild type and mutant strains to identify which chemotaxis proteins interact, the formation and action of CheA3-CheA4 heterodimer and the activities of the 6 CheY homologues.
