Abstract

The ABC transporter protein COMATOSE (CTS) controls storage fatty acid breakdown during germination, and also signals the transition between dormancy and germination. In this proposal we aim to define how the structure of the CTS protein relates to its signalling capacity, and to identify the signalling pathway(s) in which CTS operates. These approaches will provide a detailed understanding of how this protein controls the link between metabolism and developmental switching at this crucial stage in the plant growth.
