Abstract

Previous work by the applicant has helped to identify and characterise the genes encoding a new class of protein translocase from the model organism Escherichia coli. The overall aim of this research is to characterise the complex regulation of the translocase- encoding genes and to support the observations biochemically by determining the rate of protein flux through the translocase under different growth conditions.
