Abstract

Genes which suppress resistance to a number of fungal pathogens have been identified in wheat through the generation of deletion lines in the cv. Hobbit `sib'. DNA markers which co-segregate with these suppressor genes will be identified using RDA and AFLP technologies. These markers will be mapped on the wheat genomic map, and used to develop primer-based molecular tags that will enable plant breeders to identify and thereby eliminate these suppressor genes from their wheat breeding lines.
