Abstract

We have identified a new two component transcriptional regulator (feuPQ) in Rhizobium which is required for Fe uptake. Genes whose expression are affected by these genes will be identified and the effects of mutating the target genes will be established. The interaction, if any, between the fur gene and feuPQ will be investigated. The basis of the novel observation that mutations in the cycHJKL operon, which abolish cytochrome c assembly and also siderophore synthesis, will be studied.
