Abstract

The aim is to determine the function of a 65 kDa SAR (scaffold-associated region of DNA)- binding protein of the chromosome scaffold. The nuclear and chromosomal location of the protein will be determined during the cell cycle and in different tissues of tobacco. The possibility of a centromeric location for the protein will be carefully examined. The effect of gene deletion and altered expression on cell-cycle progression and plant development will be examined in yeast and tobacco, respectively.
