Abstract

With our previous grant (PG24589) we initiated a research programme to study the molecular basis of sex determination in dioecious Silene alba. We have made significant progress in this project and seek an additional year's funding to maintain our momentum, capitalise on our success, and complete our initial studies. We have initiated a collaboration with Professor I Negrutiu (Lyon) to work together on aspects of this project. Prof. Negrutiu has a range of sex determination mutants, we have a collection of exciting differentially regulated genes: together this work forms a natural collaboration. We have applied for BBSRC/INRA travel funds to facilitate the collaborative aspects of the project.
