Abstract
The role of hyphal apical calcium channels in fungal tip growth will be addressed through electrophysiological characterisation of such channels in Neurospora. Channel regulation by pH and key signal transduction agents known to occur in fungi will be addressed for wild type and tip growth mutants. Actin modulation of channel activity will be studied to assess functional coupling between channels and the cytoskeleton at the hyphal tip.
