Abstract
1. To develop and test, in Streptomyces coelicolor, a series of streptomycete gyl-based expression vectors, the collection of expression cassettes being borne on multi-copy and low-copy number plasmids and on broad host range integrative vectors. 2. To isolate and characterise host mutations which confer enhanced expression from vector-borne gyl sequences. 3. To apply the expression vectors in the manipulation of the clavulanic acid pathway of S. clavuligerus, a commercially important species.
