Abstract

(i) Determination of the genetic and environmental factors influencing ftn expression through the generation and analysis of ftn-lacz gene fusions (ii) examination of the mode of Fur-dependent regulation of bfr, ftn and gen64 (iii) investigation of the role of P64 in bfr regulation (iv) quantitative Western blot analysis of BFR and FTN under various growth conditions and in different mutants (v) measurement of whole cell iron and iron stored in BFR and FTN under various circumstances (vi) study of BFR degradation in lag phase and the role of the Clp protease (vii) role of soluble ferric reductases in iron metabolism.
