Abstract

1. To isolate the genes encoding inducible alkyltransferase enzymes in the fungus Aspergillus nidulans using three different approaches. (a) Complementation of E. coli mutants, (b) PCR amplification using degenerate primers and (c) Differential display PCR. 2. To sequence and characterise the control regions associated with the alkyltransferase genes. 3. To identify and characterise other alkylation-inducible genes.
