Abstract

The major objectives are to: 1) identify all genes of Erwinia carotovora which are regulated positively or negatively by the diffusible signalling molecule N-(3- oxohexanoyl)-L-homoserine lactone-(HSL); 2) screen out currently defined HSL-dependent genes to concentrate on novel ones; 3) sequence the novel genes to get clues to function; 4) analyse the regulation of the novel genes and the phenotypes of novel gene mutants.
