Abstract
1) To purify to homogeneity the extracellular peroxidases from Thm. fusca strain BD25, in particular the novel thermostable enzyme containing a putative selenium site. 2) To examine the role of the purified peroxidase in the degradation of lignin by actinomycetes. 3) To characterise the purified protein in terms of kinetic and physical properties with a view to determining the nature of the physiological substrate.
