Abstract

Continued funding is requested for the Research Group in Plant Gene Regulation for four programmes : 1) Identification of the biochemical function and physiological role of 13 novel ripening-related genes by antisense inhibition; 2) Research on the mechanism of gene down- regulation by antisense and sense genes (sense-suppression); 3) Ethylene and the regulation of its synthesis, signal transduction and action during plant development; 4) Manipulation of the isoprenoid pathway to alter carotenoids, abscisic acid and gibberellins.
