Abstract

Second generation, transgenic resistance will be added to our already successful technologies. Efficacy and durability will be enhanced through an approach that is very distinct from our patented, anti-feeding strategies. Migration and behaviour will be disrupted using the paradigm of the mode of action of commercial nematicides. Our already defined nematode- responsive promoters will direct expression of proteins (sialidase and lectins) to disrupt specifically, nematode orientation and migration in plants. In parallel, plant secondary metabolism will be manipulated to disrupt 5-HT control of nematode locomotion and feeding. Our pyramided transgenic resistance will be of great value against all nematodes.
