Abstract

Advances in the development of highly informative molecular markers has led to a revolution in molecular ecology, plant breeding and the study of complex genomes. Through its in house expertise and international collaborations, the Molecular Genetics Laboratory at LARS has considerable experience in the development and utilisation of molecular markers to both assess biodiversity and study genome organisation. A high quality, automated sequencer and genetic analyser is requested to permit the wider application of the technologies, currently being developed, to investigate genetic diversity and genome organisation in plants.
