Abstract
We present a case for the modification and upgrading of an existing, but decommissioned, 500L fermenter at the John Innes Centre. The molecular microbiology, enzymology and bioinorganic chemistry work at the centre requires the recommissioning and modification of such a facility to underpin research on purified proteins and secondary metabolites of fermentation.
