Abstract

A peptide synthesis service will be set up in order to underpin our existing and new BBSRC funded projects which rely heavily on routine use of synthetic peptides. New equipment will replace an old system whose reliability and throughput falls far short of current requirements. The new system will ensure that peptides are available rapidly and at substantially below commercial cost. Projects within our laboratories include studies on plant cell signalling, animal G-protein linked receptors and ion channels, solute transporters and protein kinases/phosphatases. However, other BBSRC-supported workers, carrying out a wide range of biomolecular research will also benefit from spare capacity on the system.
