Abstract

The main objective is to incorporate redox-active and/or proton- pumping membrane proteins into a solid supported membrane in order to study the electrochemical properties of these proteins in their native environment. The electrochemical properties to be studied are electron transfer thermodynamics and kinetics across the membrane and for proton pumps, the coupling of electron transfer to proton transfer and the relation to its function as a proton pump.
