Abstract

The objectives of this proposed research programme are: 1) To identify mitochondrial proteins that change in abundance in response to an exogenous oxidative stress; 2) To manipulate the expression of the genes encoding these proteins in at attempt to alter the levels of reactive oxygen species (ROS) generated within the mitochondrion; and 3) To determine the effect of increased ROS on metabolism both within the mitochondrion and throughout the cell.
