Abstract

The objectives of the proposed research programme are to determine: 1) Whether sex facilities adapt to a new environment; 2) whether the amount of sex will increase as a correlated response to selection against deleterious mutations; 3) the deleterious mutation rate per genome per generation, and whether it differs between individuals; 4) whether there is synergistic epistasis between deleterious mutations; 5) the coefficient of dominance of deleterious mutations, and 6) whether environmental and mutational factors interact synergistically in their fitness consequences.
