Abstract

Long-term objective: to assess (and thence develop) the use of bacteria in the control of insects of economic importance. Short-term objective: to understand how bacteria evade the insect immune system. Using Drosophila as a model system, I wish to understand the diversity of bacteria that successfully parasitise this fly, and investigate how they avoid the host immune system.
