Abstract

The research programme aims to provide a structural understanding of the catalytic mechanisms and specificity of lipid biosynthetic enzymes and those of enzymes from a structurally related family. It will supply information for rational design of drugs for agrochemical and chemotherapeutic use and act as the basis for enzyme mutagenesis studies with a view to modifying specificity in order to produce novel and biotechnologically interesting compounds.
