Abstract

To investigate on a fundamental level the role the ionisation and hydration state play in biocatalysis in low water organic media. To study systems that will be utilised in the biocatalytic synthesis of industrially relevant molecules. To investigate the role of enzyme ionisation state in the regioselective acylation of sugars. To understand what other factors can affect the acylation of sugars in low water organic media. To collaborate and make contact with other researchers and industrialists involved in this and similar fields of research.
