Abstract

Confocal laser scanning microscopy is a powerful research tool for imaging living cells and tissues. We propose to purchase a Leica TCS NT microscope to support our research programmes in plant developmental biology and fungal plant pathology. The instrument will be used in a wide range of projects, including imaging of fungal infection processes, cytological effects of antifungal compounds, the development of novel diagnostics and screens for antifungal activity, analysis of processes underlying protein targeting in seeds and plant cell differentiation in root hairs and the vascular cambium.
